Change (verb)
- make (someone or something) different; alter or modify.
- replace (something) with something else, especially something of the same kind that is newer or better; substitute one thing for (another)
Change is the constant in our lives that are always different. Just the idea of it can stir up feelings of excitement, fear, anticipation, resentment, and a jumble of other feelings.
But the truth of it is, change isnât something with a set definition, despite there quite literally being a definition of it above. Thatâs because change is always open for our interpretation. And our interpretation of it, like the word itself, is always changing based on the factors surrounding it.
For example, if someone says to you, âYou need to change,â you probably wouldnât interpret that as a compliment.
But if say, thereâs a brand-new 5-star restaurant in town and youâre invited to opening night free of charge, a night youâd normally eat leftovers, that change might feel a little different. Maybe, dare I say, exciting?
Hereâs the thing — whether youâre someone who loves change, or prefers to order the same thing off the restaurant menu every time, here are a few things to consider about change:
- Change isnât inherently negative.
- Or positive.
- Change is only a preference.
You can allow it to stir resistance within you or you can open your arms to the evolution of it in both small and large ways, knowing that everything and everyone progresses, adapts, transforms, transmutes, and transfigures and will continue to do so forever and always.
Change is part of our DNA after all. And where would we be today if it wasnât? Our very survival was dependent on us learning how to create shelter, find food, make clothing, or erect a Starbucks drive-thru⌠right?
Today, these types of changes and adaptations may not be necessary because (thankfully) many someones figured them out before we got to this point in history. But the truth is, we still find ourselves at many crossroads today — chances to reconstruct, metamorphose, or allow our lives to unfold for the better.
When you find yourself at one of these intersections where you can go left, right, or straight ahead, I encourage you to think of it as an opportunity to make a change about the quality of life you want to live.
As a coach, my job is to support you as you choose a direction — to help you change the mindset and/or activities that might be required to put you on the path that gets you where you ultimately want to go, and to help you make those changes more efficiently and effectively.
Think about it this way — itâs like going to the mechanic when your car needs a repair or to the doctor when youâre not feeling well. You could potentially watch YouTube videos for hours to help you fix things yourself, but making an appointment to visit a professional is typically the easiest and most efficient way of doing things, and typically ensures the best results.
Thereâs a reason why brands such as Apple, Amazon, Google, or yes, even Starbucks, are globally recognized brand powerhouses. Itâs because people flock to buy and use their products and services because each of these is considered high-quality, accessible, reliable, and unparalleled in their delivery platform. Quite simply, they provide the best experiences for their customers efficiently.
So wouldnât you want to experience that high-quality experience when making changes in your own life, not just in the products and services you purchase? This is where hiring a coach comes in.
Hiring a coach is a way to demonstrate the fact that youâre committed to making changes in YOUR life. And while of course you always have the ability to make changes on your own, a coach helps you to sort through all the information at-hand, put it into a framework, and make the best choices based on where you most want to go.
If youâre ready to make some changes in your life or are just starting to think about it, I invite you to reach out to me today for a 100% no-strings-attached assessment and a free 1-hour consultation. Isnât it time for a CHANGE of view? Who you want to be in 2021 (or 5 years from now) depends on what changes you embrace (or resist) today.
Which direction will you choose?
