The quality of your lifestyle is directly correlate to the quality of your choices, thoughts, and actions. When we bring awareness to this, our experience of life shifts.
Every moment of every day, we are making choices. Bring consciousness to the choices we make by pausing and asking, “What are the consequences of this choice, for myself and others?” This is the first step in making a quality choice for ourselves, because our choices do affect others. Then, we listen to our bodies for a feeling of comfort or discomfort as it relates to that choice, to know when a choice is right for us or not. Making decisions in life becomes easy and we no longer second guess ourselves and whether we are on a “right” path.
We have 60,000-80,000 thoughts, on average, each and every day, and 80 percent of these thoughts are the same thought. Many days can feel like Groundhog’s day for this reason. With a consistent meditation practice, we begin to discern between our thoughts and the ‘Self’, who we really are, at the level of Spirit. Our experience becomes one in which we observe our thoughts, sans any judgment, without a compulsion to act upon them. We are being more relaxed, we feel in the flow of life, and we operate with effortless ease.
Consciously making choices plus observing our thoughts leads us to taking ‘inspired’ actions, which also affects the overall quality of our life experience. ‘Inspired’ actions differ in that they are felt in our entire being, not generated from the mind. We give up the need to take actions we think we ‘should’ take, or that so-and-so is taking (comparison to others), etc. This shift in energy to one of trusting ourselves to know what we need, not anyone else, is empowering and also energizing.
The most successful and disciplined people in the world are committed to doing whatever it takes to lead an extraordinary life. So, I ask you: “Are you committed to increasing the Quality of your life, or are you committed to just the Status Quo?” The choice is yours!
